Jennifer Irons, a writer turned talent agent, is the Founder of META Talent Agency, where she manages a roster of writers and directors. In 2021, Jennifer became Canada’s first Black film & TV literary agent and the founder of Canada’s first Black-owned film & TV literary talent agency. Other firsts for Jennifer include founding and launching the first Black-owned hospice company in Illinois in 2012, before expanding to Tennessee, where her company’s mission was to serve underserved families. After overseeing multiple locations with close to fifty employees for seven years, Jennifer sold her company and relocated to pursue her artistic passion and study screenwriting at Act One film school in Hollywood, California.

Eventually, Jennifer moved to Toronto. After spending nine years working as a writer in the US & Canadian film and television industries, Jennifer decided to use her business acumen, people management skills, and passion for addressing racial disparities, to launch META Talent Agency. Jennifer holds a dual Masters in Sociology and Social Work from The Ohio State University, and a PhD in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago.

Melissa Houghton

Melissa Houghton, a native New Yorker who resides in Toronto, Canada, is a Key Creatives Talent Agent. Prior to joining the team, Melissa was a CRM marketing manager at a major Canadian bank, with responsibility for all targeted product communications across Canada. Her leadership spanned the retail, wealth and private banking businesses, and her expertise resulted in significant revenue impacts and contributed to the bank’s aggressive growth strategy.

Melissa’s passion for the arts includes her past performances professionally as a singer and actress. She also collaborated with performance artists, music producers and directors in New York, The Netherlands, Brussels, Germany and Toronto. Eventually she pivoted to advocating for other artists through volunteer work for numerous arts and culture organizations. Since 2014, Melissa has supported the Sundance Film Festival as an Associate, Artist Relations. Melissa attended Parsons School of Design and has a Certificate in Direct Marketing, with Distinction, from the CMA.
